THE MANDATE OF THE DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE
(REGIONAL PROSECUTION OFFICE – REGION I)
The Department of Justice (DOJ) –Regional Prosecution Office (RPO) derives its mandate primarily from Republic Act No. 10071, otherwise known as the “Prosecution Service Act of 2010”, to wit;
a)Implement policies, plans, programs, memoranda, orders, circulars and rules and regulations of the DOJ relative to the investigation and prosecution of criminal cases in the region;
b)Exercises immediate administrative supervision over all provincial and city prosecutors and other prosecuting officers for provinces and cities within the region;
c)Prosecute any case arising within the region;
d)When so delegated by the Secretary of Justice, resolve with finality appeals from or petition for review of judgments and orders of provincial and city prosecutors and their assistants with the region in cases where the offenses charged are cognized by the municipal trial court;
e)Investigate administrative charges against prosecutors, other prosecution officers and support staff.
